Review Guidelines - How I Review Products
At Mobility Heaven, I review mobility aids regularly and understand the responsibility that comes with this. I want you to have a mobility aid that is both necessary for you, suitable for your needs and safe for you to handle.
This is why I hold myself to high standards when making recommendations. Please continue reading to learn how I go about selecting the best mobility aids for you.
How I select products to recommend:
I use my previous Physio experience to select mobility aids based on four important factors: Safety, maneuverability, comfort and adjustability.
(1) Safety:
- Can the mobility aid safely support a user up to the stated weight limit?
- If the mobility aid has brakes, do they function safely and effectively?
- How stable is the mobility aid likely to be? It needs to be unlikely to tip over when used correctly.
- I don't include mobility aids where significant breakages are mentioned in reviewers comments.
- Mobility aids that are durable are ranked higher (positive reviews submitted after >1 year).
(2) Maneuverability:
- Is the mobility aid more suited to indoor or outdoor use or both?
- Can it maneuver around small and narrow spaces effectively?
- How does it handle different surfaces including rough terrain?
- Can the mobility aid cope safely with both upward and downward slopes?
- Is it easy to turn without losing stability?
- How well can the mobility aid get up and down curbs?
(3) Comfort:
- How comfortable are the handles? Are they made of PVC or foam? Do they have an ergonomic design?
- With upright walkers, are the armrests padded and the handles ergonomically shaped?
- How comfy is the seat? What are it's dimensions? Is it padded? How high off the ground is it?
- Do parts of the frame get in the way of legs/ankles when trying to walk with the mobility aid?
- Does the mobility aid come with included accessories e.g. basket/bag, drinks holder, cane holder?
(4) Adjustability:
- What is the height range of the adjustable handles?
- How easy is the mobility aid to adjust? Do nuts and bolts need to be unscrewed or is there a push button?
- Is anything else adjustable e.g. back rest or seat height?
- How easy is the aid to open and close for carrying/travel/storage? Can it be held closed with a clip/latch?
- Do parts of the mobility aid need to be removed before it can go into the trunk of a car?
Other factors I consider when choosing products:
Other than mobility aid specific factors, I also consider other aspects of a good recommendation, such as:
- What do reviewers/users think of the mobility aid?
- Does it represent good value for money? Is there a budget friendly option?
- Are the delivery options good in terms of both speed of delivery and shipping cost?
- How easy is it to return the item if the buyer changes their mind or the product is faulty?
- Does the mobility aid come with any kind of guarantee?
What I don't do when reviewing products:
I provide honest and unbiased recommendations. Things you won’t find with Mobility Heaven product reviews:
- I don't accept payments from manufacturers to review or promote their products.
- I won't recommend a mobility aid that I am not satisfied is the best choice available, after thorough research.
